SAE blind flange is the blind flange manufactured according to ISO 6162-1 (class 3000 psi) or ISO 6162-2 (class 6000psi), so it is known as code 61 blind flange or code 62 blind flange also. SAE blind flange is called SAE blanking flange or SAE closed flange in some countries or area. SAE Blind Flange Specifications
Our SAE blind flanges / SAE blanking flanges are designed and manufactured as per standards as below.
- ISO 6162-1
This standard is for class SAE 3000 psi flanges, so the SAE 3000 (code 61) SAE blind Flange is designed in this standard. - ISO 6162-2
This standard is for class SAE 6000 psi flanges, blind flanges as per this standard is known as code 62 blind flange also. - SAE J518
Both the ISO 6162-1 and ISO 6162-2 standard flanges are conformed to SAE J 518.
SAE blanking flange Main types
With different Sealing surface, there are two main types of SAE blanking flange as below.
- Flat face SAE blind flange:
This type of blind flange is usually used together with a O-ring face socket weld, butt weld or screw-in flange. - SAE closed flange with O-ring face
O-ring face blind flange is usually used together with a counter flange (flat face) of socket weld/butt weld/screw-in flange.
And depends on the different pressure rating, there are two main different series of SAE blind flange, which are:
- SAE 3000 series blind flange, known as code 61 blind flange (blanking flange)also.
- SAE 6000 series closed flange, known as code 62 blind flange (closed flange)also.
SAE blind flanges Materials
- Carbon steel: C20, C45, ST52, E355, other steel grades on request.
- Stainless steel: available in 304 (EN/DIN 1.4301), 304L (EN/DIN 1.4307), 316 (EN/DIN 1.4401), 316L (EN/DIN 1.4404), 316Ti(EN/DIN 1.4571), duplex stainless steel flange is also available on request.
SAE blanking flange Working pressure
Depends on itself pressure rating and the flange screws used, our SAE blanking flanges can be used under different working pressures on requests.
- Class SAE 3000 psi series: the working pressure can be from 35 bar to 350 bar depends on the sizes and the grades of the bolts used. our flange bolts are available in grade 10.9 or grade 8.8.
- Class SAE 6000 psi series: the working pressure can be max. 420 bar when using the grade 10.9 screws.
