SAE Socket Weld Flange is the SAE Flange with Socket weld connection end. As with socket weld, a pipe is inserted into a recessed area of the flange (it is called socket end), and then applying fillet weld around the top. SAE socket weld flange is also called SAE SW Flange for short.
Advantages of SAE Socket weld flange
- Easy welding and installation:
With the SAE socket weld flange, a pipe is inserted into the recessed area of the flange, and both the pipe and the fitting are square cut, with no need for beveled end or preparation other than cleaning the outside, which allows easy welding and installation. - Benefit for the above advantage, it allows for a smooth bore and better flow of the fluid or gas inside of the pipe.
- Especially ideal for smaller sizes of high pressure pipes.
Chief types:
As the professional SAE socket weld flange manufacturers, we produce all types of SW SAE flanges, here below are the chief types:
- SAE socket weld flange: this is known as SAE SW flange O-ring face also.
- SAE socket weld flange companion: it is the counter flange of SAE socket weld flange with flat face.
- Double SAE socket weld flanges: full set with 4 bolts and O-ring.
- Flat type SAE socket weld flange
- SAE 90° flanges / SAE socket weld elbow flanges
Product Specification
Our SAE Socket weld flange is designed and produced as per below standards:
- SAE J 518
- ISO 6162-1: for class SAE 3000 psi standard pressure series flanges, known as SAE code 61 socket weld flange as well.
- ISO 6162-2: for class SAE 6000 psi high pressure series flanges, known as SAE code 62 socket weld flange also
Materials
As the leading hydraulic flange manufacturers, we supply SAE Stainless steel flanges and carbon steel SAE flanges with various of materials:
- Carbon steel: S355J0, ST52.3, C45, C20 or equivalent
- Stainless steel: AISI 304 (EN/DIN 1.4301), AISI 316 (EN/DIN 1.4401), AISI 316L (EN/DIN 1.4404), AISI316Ti(EN/DIN 1.4571), and duplex stainless steel grades, other steel grades on request. Stainless steel SAE Flanges are needed when the pipe system is under corrosion environment, and usually are connecting stainless steel hydraulic tubing.
Surface conditions
Stainless steel socket weld flanges are supplied with blank (rare) surface as they are. The stainless steel flange usually is bright Metallic surface.
Carbon steel SW flanges usually need to be surface treated to get better corrosion resistant performance. Our carbon steel flanges can be supplied with below surface treatment conditions:
- Phosphated (black)
- Blank + oiled
- Zinc coated (white): thickness of Zinc plate is more than 8 µm, thicker zinc plate is available on requests.
- Yellow Galvanized zinc
- Nickle plated
- Untreated oxidation
Working pressure
- The working pressure of SAE 3000 socket welding flanges is between 35 bar to 350 bar, depends on the sizes and the blots used.
- For high pressure series SAE 6000 socket weld flanges, the working temperature can be up to more than 400 bar.
