Younglee’s flange factory is a professional code 61/ 62 flange manufacturer in China. This article is the detailed introduction about code 61 and code 62 hydraulic flanges.
Code 61 flange and code 62 flange are widely used in hydraulic systems in various industries. So what is code 61 flange and what is code 62 flange?
Code 61 flange is the hydraulic flange manufactured as per standard ISO 6162-1, and Code 62 flange is the hydraulic flange manufactured as per standard ISO 6162-2. Both code 62 and code 61 flanges are conformed to standard SAE J518, so they are well known as SAE flanges also.
Main types of code 61 & code 62 flanges
There are main different types of SAE flanges (code 61/62 flanges), here below is a picture showing the different types.
- SAE Butt weld flanges (code 61/62 butt weld flanges)
- SAE Socket Weld flanges (code 61/62 socket weld flanges)
- SAE Screw-in flanges (code 61/62 threaded flanges)
- SAE Split flanges (code 61/62 split flanges)
- SAE Flange clamps (code 61/62 flange clamps)
- SAE blind flanges (code 61/62 blind flanges)
Size Range of code 61 /code 62 flanges
Here below is the dimension range of code 61 and code 62 flanges.
- Code 61 flange size range: 1/2″ to 5″, DN15 to DN125
- Code 62 flange size range: 1/2″ to 3″, DN15 to DN80
Working Pressure of code 61 /62 flanges
Code 61 flange and code 62 flange are with different max. working pressure as below.
- Code 61 flange max. working pressure: The max working pressure rate of code 61 flanges is class 3000 psi, so CD 61 flange is known as SAE 3000 flange also. However, the max. working pressure is from 35 bar to 350 bar depends on the flange size and the grade of the bolts used.
- Code 62 flange max. working pressure: The max working pressure rate of code 62 flanges is class 6000 psi, so CD 62 flange is known as SAE 6000 flange also.
How to use code 61 / 62 flanges?
Code 61 and code 62 hydraulic SAE flange provides a non-welding and zero-clearance assembly that enables easy connection, disconnect and maintenance of pipe to hose, pipe to pipe or manifold connection. Infinite positioning is a built-in feature to enable flange to put in different position angle. There are four different styles of flange connections, which are NPT or BSPP pipe threaded connection end, Butt weld connection end, and socket weld connection end. Pipes, tubes or hoses are connected to the flange by the method of screwing in, butt welding or socket welding accordingly.
How to install code 61/62 SAE flanges?
People can simply install the CODE 61/62 SAE flanges with below main steps.
Step 1: Check components surface and ensure there are no damage or contamination.
Step 2: Align the flange connection before inserting the O-ring seal on the female flange groove. Place the washer with cap screws and bolt through the bolt holes.
Step 3: Hand tighten cap screws to seat O-ring on flange groove.
What is the difference between code 61 flange and code 62 flange?
Code 61 and code 62 are the two different code designs of SAE flanges. Here below table is a summary of the difference between code 61 and code 62 flanges:
Description | Code 61 flange | Code 62 flange |
Standard | ISO 6162-1 | ISO6162-2 |
Pressure Series | SAE 3000 psi | SAE 6000 psi |
Size Range | 1/2” to 5” (DN15-DN125) | 1/2” to 3”(DN15-DN80) |
Max. Working Pressure (bar) | 35 to 350 bar up on sizes and bolt grade | 420 bar |
